1. Authority over the Nations

In Old Testament are written many prophecies which were given by Jesus. People may think it doesn’t make sense someone had written prophecies in the Bible before he was born. But if it is true, we can admit Jesus had been before he came to this world. This article is for presenting some of the prophecies which were given by Jesus himself.
The material which we can directly admit Jesus wrote is Psalm 2. It is related to Revelations chapter 2. Let’s see Revelations first.
To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations--'He will rule them with an iron scepter; he will dash them to pieces like pottery'--just as I have received authority from my Father. (Rev.2:26-27)
Jesus will give a mission to him who overcomes, and if he will complete it, Jesus will give him authority over the nations. And Jesus said he also received the same authority from God. That is just in Psalm 2.
I will proclaim the decree of the LORD: He said to me, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father. Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. You will rule them with an iron scepter; you will dash them to pieces like pottery." (Ps.2:7-9)
The author of this poem is the one who is called God’s son. God promised him the nations as his inheritance. This is same to what is in Revelations chapter 2. Therefore we can acknowledge the author of the poem is Jesus. However the poem had been written 1,000 years before Jesus came to this world. Thus we can know Jesus had been before he was born in this world.

2. The being before the Creation

In fact, Jesus was before the Creation of the world. Jesus himself mentioned it 2,000 years ago.
And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began. (John17:5)
That was given in the prayer of Jesus which was made at the last supper with his disciples on the day before he took the cross. The same thing is also in the book of Proverbs.
The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old; (Prov.8:22)
Who was saying this has the name “Wisdom.” (Proverbs 8:1) This Proverbs was written by Solomon. However this phrase was written by Jesus through Solomon. Then Jesus prophesied it with the name of wisdom. We can know he was Jesus by the book of Revelations.
The being who had the name of wisdom promised to pour out his spirit. (Proverbs 1:20-23) Who is the one who can pour out his spirit?
In Old Testament era poured God out the spirit. (Numbers 11:17) Thus it was called “the Spirit of God” in Old Testament. (Genesis 1:2, 1 Samuel 10:10)
Jesus promised to ask his father and send the Holy Spirit to his disciples. (John 14:16-17)
When Jesus appeared in front of God after crucifixion, he had seven eyes, which were the seven Spirits of God. (Revelations 5:6) (Seven doesn’t mean the number of spirits but is used to indicate perfectness of the Spirit.) These had been in front of God’s throne before Jesus showed up. (Revelations 4:5) The event Jesus sent the Spirit was the advent of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost. (Acts 2:1-4) Therefore the Spirit in New Testament is called the Spirit of Jesus or the Spirit of Christ. (Acts 16:7, Rome 8:9) The owner has changed from God to Jesus.
Therefore those who can pour out the spirit are only Jehovah God and Jesus. However the wisdom who promised to pour out his spirit said Jehovah had possessed him before the beginning, so he is not God himself. Thus we can know the “wisdom” was Jesus. He had been before the Creation, and he also participated in the Creation. (Proverbs 8:30-31)

3. Being with the Holy Spirit

God gave the prophecy the Holy Spirit would be on Jesus, and Jesus himself prophesied it too.
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. (Is.61:1)
This prophecy had been given 700 years before Jesus was born. Receiving the Spirit of God is symbolized by anointing. “The anointed” is called “Messiah” in Hebrew and “Christ” in Greek. When Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, God sent him his Spirit. (Matthew 3:16) Thus Jesus is called Messiah.
In Old Testament era had God kings and priests anointed. (1 Samuel 10:1, Exodus 28:41)
It shows the anointed will be kings and priests in the spiritual world. The soldiers of heaven consisted of martyrs mostly will receive the authority of Judge, king, and priest. (Revelations 20:4-6, 22:5) They are the 144,000. (Revelations 14:1) Jesus will be “King of kings” who will reign the 144,000 kings, and High Priest who will manage the work of the priests, the 144,000, in the order of Melchizedek. (Revelations 19:16, Psalms 110:4, Hebrews 5:10)

4. The prophecy of 30 silver coins

Jesus had prophesied before he came to this world he would be sold in 30 silver coins.
And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD. (Zech.11:1213)
As this words, the chief priests gave Judas Iscariot 30 silver coins for the price of selling Jesus. (Matthew 26:15) Judas Iscariot did so because he was discarded by God due to his sin and a devil prompted him to betray Jesus. (John 12:6, 13:2) After Jesus was caught, the devil went out from Judas Iscariot, and Judas regretted his deed and tried to return the money to the chief priests. (Matthew 27:3) However they rejected it and he threw the money into the temple and went away and hanged himself. (Matthew 27:5) The chief priests decided to use the money to buy the potter’s field as a burial place for foreigners because they thought the money which had been to sell Jesus was unclean. (Matthew 27:6-7)
All this process were prophesied in the book of Zechariah. Then the one who prophesied these was Jesus himself. This prophecy was made 520 years before Jesus was born.

5. The prophecy of the crucifixion

David said the Spirit of God spoke through him. (2 Samuel 23:2) Jesus left many prophecies for himself through David’s writings. The prophecies for his crucifixion are among them.
Dogs have surrounded me; a band of evil men has encircled me, they have pierced my hands and my feet. I can count all my bones; people stare and gloat over me. They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing. (Ps.22:1618)
As this words took Jesus the cross and his garments were shared by Roman soldiers. (John 19:23-24)
Jesus also prophesied through David his bones would be protected on the cross.
he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken. (Ps.34:20)
Like this prophecy, the Roman soldiers didn’t break Jesus’ legs but they broke the legs of the other two men. (John 19:33) In order to let this be acknowledged, God commanded to eat the lamb without breaking any of its bones when they celebrate the Passover. (Numbers 9:12) The Passover Lamb symbolizes Jesus. When God stroke Egypt, the houses with the blood of the lamb were saved as the destroyer passed over the houses and didn’t strike them. (Exodus 12:23) That implies people will be saved with Jesus’ blood.

6. The prophecy of the fountain to wash away sins

Jesus prophesied when he would be sacrificed on the cross the fountain which would cleanse us from our sins would be opened.
And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son. (Zech.12:10)

On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity. (Zech.13:1)
In above words, “They will look on me, the one they have pierced” means Jesus on the cross. Thus we can know this words were given by Jesus himself. Jesus prophesied this 520 years before he was born. Jesus said the fountain would be opened on that day when he would be crucified. That’s the purpose Jesus came to this world and took the cross.

7. The prophecies of the resurrection and the throne

Jesus prophesied through David’s poem he would not be abandoned to the grave and resurrected.
because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. (Ps.16:10-11)
In this poem said Jesus he would be filled with pleasures at God’s right hand. This shows the throne at God’s right hand was promised for the reward of the crucifixion.

As his prophecy, he was resurrected in three days after the death on the cross, and he witnessed his resurrection to show up many times to his disciples during 40 days. (Luke 24:21, Acts 1:3) Then he was taken up to heaven and sit at the right hand of God and has been governing God’s world and leading God’s work in this world until now. (Acts 1:9, Colossians 3:1) Now he is working with two olive trees, his witnesses. (Revelations 11:3-4) About the olive trees, refer to the article of “The Two Olive Trees in Zechariah and Revelations.”
